U.S. Navy patrol boats cruised the edges of A-502's river based outpost at Binh Tan. When the team was called to indentify strange lights appearing along the coast, a small Navy patrol boat transported  A-502 advisors to the area. A larger vessel "Swift Boat" stood just off shore, in deeper water, prepared to provide fire support for the five man unit in the patrol boat.
