The men of A-502 were far
more than their exceptional military training had made them. Each brought
his own unique blend of personal traits and values to the team. Their
life experiences, educational, racial, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds
were widely varied. They had grown up in the east, west, north, south,
and heartland of the United States. They were from both the city
and the country. As children, boys, and young men their personal values had
been shaped by family, school, church and other uniquely American organizations.
Some had been Boy Scouts, even Eagle Scouts. In short, they were men of character and,
truly, an All American Team.
Possessing more than the than simply the character
required to volunteer as a Special Forces soldier, the men of A-502 also
possessed the courage necessary to carry out the mission . . . whatever the
mission.
In a land that was culturally very different and far away from their own, the
men of A-502 stood guard over the personal values that had led each of them to service in Special
Forces. But, more importantly, they stood guard over the values of the country they served
and loved.
As with prayer, honor and the courage to serve honorably were so
important to early members of Special Forces that a "Creed" was created specifically
for the unit. The creed is posted on the Special Forces Search Engine website.
Click on the link below to see the creed that guides the Special
Forces soldier.
The "Peace & Prayer" page, as with the "Honor & Courage" page has been made a part of this
website so that family members, friends, and researchers will have a balanced view
of Special Forces soldiers.
